In 1886, Esther McGovern, 10, arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a group of 71 children from the Liverpool Catholic Children's Protection Society, accompanied by a Mrs. Lacy and en route to Kingston, Ontario, Canada.

John Casey and Esther Mcgovern Masterson had at least 7 children: Stillborn Twin Daughters, born prematurely and died May 2, 1905; John Vincent Masterson, born June 23, 1906, at Peterborough, Ontario, Canada; Frances Leo Masterson, born September 7, 1907, at Peterborough, Ontario, Canada; Mary Madeline Masterson, born October 20, 1908, at Peterborough, Ontario, Canada, and died on February 2, 1920, at Isolation Hospital, Peterborough, Ontario, Canada of diptheria; James Herbert Masterson, born February 5, 1910, at Peterborough, Ontario, Canada; and Helen Loraine Masterson, born May 29, 1911, at Peterborough, Ontario, Canada.

On December 27, 1933, at Peterborough, Ontario, Canada, Esther Therese Masterson, 51, born in Liverpool, England, died of cerebral haemorrhage (apoplexy) and chronic nephritis. She is buried at St. Peters Cemetery, 173 Hunter Street, Peterborough, Ontario, Canada.
