In 1921, Joseph Percival Rotherham, 10, arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a group of 134 Barnardo children en route to Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He declared that his intended occupation was to do farm work; that he was born in Liverpool, England; that his passage was paid by Dr. Barnardo's Homes; that he was destined to his friend, Mr. J. W. Hobday, 50-52 Peter Street, Toronto, Ontario, Canada; that his nearest relation was his mother, Mrs. Lily Heywood, 10, Ash Grove, Christopher Street, Walton, Liverpool, Lancashire, England.

A juvenile inspector reported [T-15425]:

ROTHERHAM, Joseph P, 10 . . . (14,Oct 29/25) 1921 Barnardo's, one placement at The Locks, Huntsville, Muskoka, completed 1928.

In 1939, at Birmingham, Warwickshire, England, Joseph P. Rotheram married Beatrice Lillian Neal.

At least 2 children were born of this marriage.

On February 15, 1954, Joseph Percival Rotheram crossed into the United States throught he port of Buffalo, New York. He declared that his place of birth was Liverpool, England; that he resided at 255 Sackwill Street, Toronto, Ontario, Canada; that his destination was New York; that intended to remain for 10 hours; and that his occupation was as a painter.

ROTHERAM, JOSEPH -- At Toronto East General Hospital, on Saturday, November 19, 1983, Joseph Rotheram, beloved husband of Lillian, dear father of Terry and Danny Rotheram and Gordon and Bruce Newlove and deaer brother of Bill Haywood. Resting at the "Gerrard Chapel" of the Ingram Funeral Home, 1055 Gerrard St. E (at Jones Avenue) on Monday from 2-9 pm. A brief Prayer and Hymn Service will take place at the funeral home Monday evening at 7 pm. The funeral service will be held at Greenwood Salvation Army Citadel, 14 Ladysmith Ave., Toronto on Tuesday at 2 pm. Interment Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
