1911 Canadian Census records place Thomas Powell in Lambton, Ontario as a Domestic in the household of Lillie and Amos Core. Born in Feb 1892, he imigrated from England in 1904.

Attestation papers were signed 22 Sep 1914 in Valcartier, Quebec. Thomas Edwin Powell was born in London, England on 22 Feb 1892. He was an Ironworker by trade. His Next of Kin was Edward Powell of 192 Lochiel Street in Sarnia, Ontario. 5'5" in height with grey eyes and thick brown hair, he had five vaccination scars on his left arm. His religion was listed as Church of England.

Commonwealth War Graves Registers and Circumstances of Casualty state that Thomas was Killed in Action in the area of Langemarck in the Attack of St. Julien. His Next of Kin was listed as Edward Powell of 192 Dochiel Street, Sarnia, Ontario, however on the back of the card it reads Mrs. Fanny Powell c/o Mrs. J.H. Williams R.R. #4 ..., Ontario. There is no record of burial for him. His name is listed on the Menin Gate Memorial in Ypres, West Flanders, Belgium.
