NotesIn 1887, Gilbert Primmer, arrived at Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada, in a group of 10 boys from Barton Regis, Bristol, England.

"From the Reports of Inspection of Pauper Children sent out to Canada made by Immigration Officers of the Dominion Government and received from the Colonial Office on the 12th December 1888.

Report of Mr. Samuel Gardner, Government Immigration Agent at St. John, New Brunswick.

Gilbert Primner (? Robert), aged 13. From parish of St. Pancras. Placed with T. W. Carpenter, Wickham, River St. John, Queen's County.?Boy says he likes the place much, and well he may, from what Mr. Carpenter says of his habits; a good lad and very willing to work, and not saucy as some are. He too would not go to England again; his habits make it very hard on the women folks, who have to clean after him; has a weakness, his discharges are emptied in his clothes and bed also; and if he doesn't get over this, why, they can't keep him."
