Sedgewick Forrest and his brother, Henry Forrest, were found wandering by the police and taken to the Lambeth Workhouse. Their father had deserted and their mother, a drunkard, was locked up for being drunk and ill using her children. They were both admitted to Norwood School, Lambeth Union on July 21, 1892.

Henry was sent to the Army in August 1897. Sedgewick was discharged to Barnardo's Home on June 13, 1901.

In 1901, S. Forrest, 11, arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a large group of Barnardo children: 239 to Toronto, Ontario; 68 to Winnipeg, Manitoba; 20 to Russell, Manitoba; and 3 to Peterborough, Ontario, Canada.

Age 13, Mr Jephson is a bachelor, and has a very fair house, but very untidy, employed at chores, good health, attended Methodist Church while at Mr Johnston's but not sinceh he came here. The nearest church being ay Wolseley six miles away.
Terms-for a year with Mr Jephson for board and lodging. I drove to Mr Jephson's and saw the boy. His employer states he has taken him for a year on probation, and that he finds him slow. Had no other complaint to make.

In October, 1914, Sedgewick Forrest, 24, laborer, entered the United States through the Port of Portal, North Dakota. He declared that he was a citizen of England; that his contact was his brother, Henry Forrest, who resided in Dover, England; that his last permanent residence was Moosejaw, Saskatchewan, Canada; that his final destination was Minot, North Dakota; that he carried $36 on his person; that he had no specific address to which he was going. He was described as 5 foot 5 inches in height; fair complexion; auburn hair; blue eyes; the first joint of his thumb was missing. He was born at Norwood, England, and had entered Canada in July of 1908 on an unknown ship.

On June 5, 1917, Sedgewick Forrest, 25, registered for the United States Draft. He declared that he resided in New Ulm, Minnesota; that his date of birth was January 16, 1892; that he was an alien; that he had been born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada and was a citizen of Great Britain; that he was a R.R. New(?) Agent for Van Nuy(?) Interstate, 205 Warf Way, Minneapolis, Minnesota; that he was not married. He was described as medium height; slender; light hair; blue eyes. He had lost a part of his right thumb.

In 1942, Sedgewick Forrest, 48, registered for the United States Draft. He declared that he resided at 4100 Archer Avenue, Chicago, Cook, Illinois; that he was born in Winnipeg, Canada; that his telephone number was VIR-0915; that his date of birth was January 16, 1894; that his contact was Violet Cachur (Office Girl); that he was self-employed at Archer Sign Company.

Sedgewick Wynne Forrest died on July 1, 1977, at Chicago, Cook, Illinois, USA.
