NotesIn 1902, Arthur D. Riley, 6, arrived at Quebec, Canada, along with a small group of 13 children from West Ham Union, Leytonstone, London, England, en route to Stratford, Ontario, Canada.

On July 24, 1915, Arthur David Riley, 22, enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces. He declared that he was born in Belfast, Ireland; that his next of kin was Mrs. Peter Jacob, who resided at Milverton, Ontario, Canada; that his date of birth was April 29, 1893; that he was a finisher; that he was not married; and that he had previously served in the 28th Perth Regiment for 2 years. He was described as 5 foot 3-1/2 inches in height; dark complexion; brown eyes; dark brown hair. He was a member of the Church of England. He had a large round scar on his left breast; a scar across the middle of his forehead; and two scars over the back of his right index finger.

On September 11, 1919, at the Luthern Church in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada, a marriage was registered between Arthur D. Riley, 26, felt worker, born in Ireland to Arthur D. Riley and Emma Porter; and Dora C. Pitts, 23, born in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada to William Pitts and Angeline Rapine.

His son, Tim, shared this anecdote:

"My father has told me of trips he made down into Detroit with his BHC father to visit his [wealthy] "Uncle". He related stories about this "uncle" who would "supply" cars to certain individuals, for use during the late evening, early morning hours."
