MIDDLEMORE HOME REPORTS

Samuel Thomas Tubb (aka Tom) was placed with Levi Parlee, Mount Hebron, Kings County, New Brunswick, where he resided until he enlisted in WW1. Of the three brothers, Samuel was fortunate to reside with a family that treated him well.

The first visitor?s report was done on December 22, 1905 by Mr. W. E. S. Wetmore, just a short while after he was sent to the farm of Levi Parlee, the report reads; ?This little fellow is well pleased with his home. He is going to school and is much liked by the people with whom he resides.?
A year later on December 14, 1906, Mr. Wetmore reports; ?The child is in good health, he has sufficient supply of clothes, the home is satisfactory, he attends Church and Sunday School on a regular basis, he attends Day School, he has made no complaints and neither has the employer, the child does not receive wages.

The next visit was done by Frank A. Gerrow on September 11, 1907 and he reports; ?The child is in good health, he has sufficient supply of clothes, the home is satisfactory, he attends Church and Sunday School on a regular basis, he attends Day School in the winter only, the child has no complaints, however, the employer, Levi Parlee does state that the is boy is disobedient and he still is not receiving wages.?

Then on Frank A. Gerrow?s next visit on September 11, 1908 he reports ?That everything is the same as the year before, except that the employer, Mr. Parlee says that his boy is doing better than he did at the time of my last call.?

No more visits were done on Samuel until October 16, 1914, this report was done by Mr. S. Roy and he reports; ?The child is in good health, the home is satisfactory, the child is still attending Church and Sunday School on a regular basis, but is no longer attending Day School and he still does not receive wages. Mr. Roy then recorded the following; ?Mr. Parlee wishes Sam to stay on with him at a reasonable wage per year. Understand that no regular wage has been paid as yet, boy receiving sums of money at various intervals. Sam claims that everything is satisfactory but he wish to enlist and go to the front. I advised him to go although Mr. Parlee did not wish it and I think Sam will go eventually, Mr. Parlee would like another boy.?
