In 1897, Allan Adam, 12 (along with brother, William Adam, 13), arrived in Quebec, Canada, from Glasgow, Scotland, in a group of 117 Quarriers children en route to Brockville, Ontario, Canada.
Allan and William Adam, laborers, returned to the United Kingdom on the ship Yorkshire on May 18, 1898.
Allan Adam, 32, Engineer / Shipwright, returned to Canada on April 28, 1914, on the ship Corsican.
On December 17, 1914, Allan Devrix Adam, 28, enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces. He declared that he was born in Glasgow, Scotland; that his birthdate was March 24, 1886; that he was a commercial traveller; that he had served 5 years in the 48th Highlanders of Toronto Light House; and that his next of kin was his wife, Florence May Adam, who resided at Floydminster, Saskatchewan, Canada. He was described as 5 foot 9-1/2 inches in height; fair complexion; gray eyes; brown hair; and Presbyterian by faith.
