NotesWilliam James Mabley was born March 1896 at Boxmoor,Hemel Hempstead,Hertfordshire.He was sent to Barnados in January 1906 by his mother,Mary Ann Elizabeth Mabley,of Aspley Guise.

In 1901, William J Mabley, 6, son, with Mary A E Mabley, 30, in Aspley Heath, Bedfordshire

On January 20th 1916, William James Mabley b March 30 1896 Sheffield, enlisted in Canadian Army, next of kin Mother-Alice Stallwood, 71 Brant St, Windsor, Ont, his address was the same

William was awarded the military medal in 1918.He was badly wounded in Cambrai.In saving his superior officers life he was shot in the head.He survived,but lived with this hole in his head for the rest of his life.He died in Pickering,Ontario,12th March 1947, leaving a widow,Stella,and children, Helen, Ralph and Ruth.
