NotesA birth registration was found for Mary Agatha Ibbetson: Year of Registration: 1880; Quarter of Registration: Apr-May-Jun; District: Isle of Wight; County: Hampshire, Isle of Wight; Volume: 2b; Page: 617.

In 1891, Mary Ibbetson, 11 (along with sister Emily Ibbetson, 7) arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a group of 50 Maria Rye children accompanied by Mrs. Soffe, matron, and en route to Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario.

On January 3, 1900, at Lambton, Ontario, Canada, a marriage was registered between Mary Agatha Ibbetson, 19, born on the Isle of Wight, England (she did not know who her parents were); and Thomas Henry Piggot, 21, farmer, born in Kent County, Ontario, Canada, to Henry Piggot and Mary Clore.

Thomas Henry and Mary Agatha Ibbetson Piggott had four children: Gladys Elizabeth Piggott, born December 30, 1907 at Lambton; Iva Herma Piggott, born October 20, 1903; Melvyn Joseph Piggott, born October 24, 1900; and Thelma Loraine Piggott, February 24, 1902.

Mary Agatha Ibbetson Piggott died at the age of 29 on November 13, 1909, at Lambton, Ontario, Canada, of shock from her body being burnt with coal oil, a duration of 15 hours. Her parents names were given on her death certificate as William Ibbetson and Laura Hinton.

Thomas Henry Piggott remarried Margaret Martha Switzer on February 22, 1911, who died in 1923. He remarried one more time to Mary Close on August 29, 1929. He died November 16, 1970, in Lambton, Ontario, Canada.

EDITORS NOTE: As an interesting family story stated that Mary Agatha Ibbetson may have been the illegitimate daughter of King Edward VII.
