He was originally placed in a home in Ontario, eventually making his way to Manitoba, where his brother Fred was placed in 1897.

He lived and worked in various Manitoba locations, finally settling in Winnipeg. He married, but had no children.

He died in Winnipeg, MB, but is buried in Birtle, Manitoba, where his brother Fred is also buried.
