Notes In 1903, Fred Abbott, 9, arrived at Halifax, Nova Scotia, in a group of 42 children from the National Childrens Home accompanied by Dr. Stephenson en route to Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
On November 28, 1917, Frederick Abbott joined the Canadian Armed Forces at Winnipeg, Manitoba. He declared that he was born in Kingston, London, England; that he was single; that he was a farmer; and that his next of kin was his mother, Mrs. Maria Barney, who resided at 57 Westcote Road, Mitcham Lane, Streatham, London, England. He is described as 24 years and 3 months of age; 5 foot 1 1/2 inches in height; medium complexion; gray eyes; and light brown hair.
