NotesI'll just say that "Stanley" LEWIS was actually John Stanley LEWIS, born 1859 in Liverpool, England. By 1870, his father had died, and he went to stay at the Blue Coat School. By 1873, his mother had died, and he went to the Liverpool Sheltering Homes. This "Home" opened in 1873. In 1874 Stanley was sent to Nova Scotia.

There were 3 LEWIS girls on the ship with him, and I know they weren't siblings, as Stanley seems to have been an only child. The girls were Josephine, another teen, and younger girls, Elizabeth and Mary. Josephine married into a LANE family. I cannot find Elizabeth and Mary anyplace.

Stanley married in Truro, NS, in 1879, to another home child, Mary Elizabeth CORKILL / CORKHILL. They had their first child there, but in 1881 they migrated to Massachusetts. They settled in Stoneham, MA, where they raised 13 children.

My grandfather was one of the youngest. A picture of the family is available in the Master BHC Gallery under Individual BHCs.
