NotesIn 1891, William Hockham, 48, was shown residing with John, 12, Hannah Wright, 33, sister in law, and Alice Wright, 11, niece, in Clerkenwell, London, England.

On July 19 1891, William Hockham, 49, widower, butcher, married Hannah Wright, 33, at St James, Clerkenwell, London, England.

A birth registration was found for Harry Bernard Hockham; Year of Registration: 1892; Quarter of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar; District: Holborn; County: London, Middlesex; Volume: 1b; Page: 694a.

In 1902, Harry Hockham, 10, arrived at Portland, Maine, with a group of 53 boys from Leopold House, 199 Burdett Road, East London, en route to Toronto, Ontario, Canada. (Film #C-4715)

In 1903, Barnardos Ups & Downs (January 1903) reported that Harry had been placed with Mrs Sarah Kindred in Graystock, Ontario, Canada.

In 1911, Harry Hockham's mother, Hannah Hockham, widow, was residing alone at 56 Lansdown Road Forest Gate, West Ham, Essex, England, and was employed doing housework. His brother, George Hockham, was working as a houseboy for Charles Dixon in Gunthorpe Oakham, Rutland, England.

In 1915, Harry's brother, George Frederick Hockham, joined the British Armed Forces to serve during World War I. His mother, Hannah Hockham, was shown as residing at 56 Lansdowne Road, Forest Gate, West Ham, Essex, England. On August 9, 1916, he was wounded and died on the same day. He is buried in Ferme-Olivier Cemetery in Belgium.

In 1919, his next of kin was shown as Harry Hockham, 25, was shown residing at Balcarras, Saskatchewan, Canada, with their sister, Rose Hockham, 21. A sister, Alice Gowen, 38, was shown as residing at 35, Dane Road, Merton, SW 17. (Hannah Hockham died in 1916 aged 58 in the West Ham district.)
