NotesA birth registration was found for Henry Tippett: Year of Registration: 1869; Quarter of Registration: Apr-May-Jun; District: Marylebone (1837-1901); County: London, Middlesex; Volume: 1a; Page: 502.

Life was no picnic for William Henry (Harry) and his brother, Charles, in England and they certainly had a better life in Canada than they would have had in England. Harry lived to a ripe old age which is a lot more than his parents who died at 50 and 45.

In 1871, Henry Tippett, 2 years of age, is shown residing at 25 Linton Place, Christchurch, St. Marylebone, Middlesex, England. Other family members included: James Tippett, 5; John Tippett, 15, shoe black; Mary Tippett, 39; Samuel Tippett, 43, carman; Samuel Tippett, 8; and William Tippett, 11. (Source: 1871 Census of England; Class: RG10; Piece: 174; Folio: 84; Page: 38; GSU roll: 823304.)

Their father (Samuel Tippett / Tibbett) died when Harry was 6 (January 4, 1875) and his mother (Mary Russell Tippett) died when he was 9 (June 11, 1878) from Intestinal Obstruction and Exhaustion. There were 6 children of whom Charles and Henry were the youngest. The next oldest brother, James, who was 13 when his mother died, was a working man for the princely sum of 5 shillings and 6 pence/week. They received no charity from anyone during this time. James Tippett lasted 15 months after his mothers death and died from pneumonia. Henry was admitted to Barnardos right away on September 23, 1878, and Charles was cared for by a neighbor for about a year until he was accepted by Barnardos on November 17, 1879.

In 1881, Henry Tippet, 14 years of age, was shown as a scholar at Barnados Home, 18 To 26 Stepney Causeway, Ratcliffe, Middlesex, England. (Source: 1881 Census of England; Class: RG11; Piece: 464; Folio: 113; Page: 6; Line: ; GSU roll: 1341101.)

In 1900, Henry Tippett, 20, was residing in St. Helens, Ontario Canada.

On October 25, 1945, Henry Tippett, aged 76 years, died in Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada.
