Notes(Possible) Annie Ives, 24, married, and son William, 2, residing in Poplar, London

William Ives was admitted to Lambeth Workhouse on November 2, 1899. He was discharged on November 4, 1899, to Lambeth Union Schools.

William had been remanded by the Magistrates to Lambeth Workhouse on November 1, 1899. He was admitted off remand from Police court, and had stated his mother Annie lived at 14 Riverhall Street, Wandsworth Road, but on inquiries being made it was found she had left that address. His father, Henry, a plasterer, had deserted.

Eventually his mother's address was obtained of 17 William Street, New Road, Battersea.

William was discharged into the care of Barnardo's Home on August 1, 1900.

In 1900, William Ives, 10, arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a group of 101 Barnardo boys en route to Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

According to the Agent (not named) for Dr.Barnardo's Homes 214 Farley Avenue, Toronto, Ont. (Film C-7380, RG 76, Vol 231, File 128477), William Ives was placed in 1900 with G. Harvie, Grey, Ontario, Canada.

April 14 1902

Age 13, very suitable home, a comfortable farmer, employed at light chores, general health good, attends Presbytarian Church and Public School, good character, Terms-$120 on April 1 1907, and three years schooling. This lad is very comfortably settled and I have every reason for believing that he is kindly treated. He is quite deaf and stammers. They express a fondness for him.
