Commonwealth War Graves Registers and Circumstances of Casualty state that he was Killed in Action when in charge of a ration party at Passchdendaele, West Flanders, Belgium. He was hit by shell fire and killed instantly. His Next of Kin was Mrs. Georgina Murdock of 2 School Street, New Pitsligo, Aberdeen, Scotland. His body was not recovered for burial, his name is listed on the Menin Gate Memorial in Ypres, West Flanders, Belgium.
