NotesCARTER Ellen, 1894 Annual Report for Miss RYE's Emigration Home for Destitute Little Girls, Peckham, Surrey, England - entry no 90 E.C., aged 11; mother a tramp having no settled home. Mr. A.M., Farmer, Strathroy P.O., Ontario. To be trained for service.

In 1894, Ellen Carter, 11 (along with sister Florence Carter, 15), arrived at Quebec, Canada, with a group of 45 children en route to Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, Canada.

In 1901, Ellen Carter, 18, was shown as the adopted daughter of Eliza E. Moore, at Strathroy, Middlesex, Ontario, Canada. Her date of birth is shown as December 25, 1882, and her immigration year as 1894. (1901 Census of Canada; film T-6482; town Strathroy; Div. 6, p. 4, entry 48, family 46.)

On October 7, 1901, at Middlesex, Ontario, Canada, a marriage was registered between Ellen Carter, 18, born in England to Thomas and Millie Carter; and Charles Harnett, 20, farmer, born in Adelaide, Ontario, Canada, to Isaac and Lizzie Harnett.

In 1911, Ellen Harnett, 28, is shown residing at S Scott 9 & 10, Ward 3, Middlesex, Ontario, Canada, along with her husband, Charles Harnett, 28, salesman at feedstore; and children: Helen E. Harnett, 8; Marland C Harnett, 6; Ethel M. Harnett, 2; Harold I. Harnett, 5; and Arthur S. Harnett, 5 months.

Ellen Carter Harnett was buried in Strathroy Municipal Cemetery, Adelaide, Ontario, Canada, along with her husband, Charles Harnett, who died in 1947.
