NotesMy grandmother's mother became ill and she was left with her grandparents. They were unable to care for her so she, her sister Bertha and brother were sent to the Bernardo Home. Her brother Thornely was sent to Australia. Alberta and Bertha were sent to Ontario Canada. She lived with various families in Ontario until settling in Campbellford, Ontario. This is where she met my grandfather Edmund Iliffe. They married and had five children. I am the daughter of Alberta's daughter Dorothy. After many years of researching, my mother was able to locate my grandmother's family and she was able to correspond with her sisters and brothers. Unfortunately, this was in the latter years of her life. Much of her life she had no contact with her family and had no idea where in England they were.
