A death registration was found for Charlotte's father, Robert Gay; Estimated Birth Year: abt 1846; Year of Registration: 1880; Quarter of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec; Age at Death: 34; District: Marylebone (1837-1901); County: London, Middlesex; Volume: 1a; Page: 397.

In 1881, [Charlotte] Alice Gay, 11, is residing at 304 Portobello Road, East Side, Chelsea, Kensington, London, England. Other family members included: Charlotte Gay, widow, 34; Elizabeth Gay, 7; Kate Gay, 5; Maude Gay, 2; Nellie Gay, 4; and Robert Gay, 12 months. In 1883, Charlotte Gay, 14, arrived at Quebec, Canada, along with a group of 48 children en route to Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario. (Her sisters, Elizabeth and Kate Gay had previously been sent from Rye's Peckham home to Niagra-on-the-Lake in 1881 on the Sarmation.)

Charlotte Gay married John Allen Waite (also born in England), a farmer, about 1894.

In 1911, Charlotte Waite, 42, was residing with her husband and children at Oakley, Muskoka, Ontario, Canada. Her date of birth is shown as May 1896, and her immigration year as 1883. Other family members included: Irene Alicia Waite, 15; Wilfred Waite, 13; Winnifred Waite, 11; Arthur Waite, 9; and David Waite, 5.
