November 14 1900

Age about 14 years, home very plain yet comfortable, employed at farm chores, good health, attends Roman Catholic Church regularly, not school, fair primary education, character-a well behaved boy. Terms-Board and $1 per month applied towards clothing. Both Mr and Mrs Lyons appear to take an interest in Robert Spaul. He is quite an intelligent boy; is not overworked and treated considerately. He had no fault to find with his lot. Spaul gives his employer satisfaction, altho' he does not learn as quickly as he would wish, he is willing and industrious.

June 24 1902

Age 16, He is with a very industrious farmer and should do well here. The neighbours speak well of him. Mrs Lyons, from the account she gave me, does not appear to get along agreeably with Spaul, whether the youth is to blame or not, I am unable to ascertain. He has developed into quite a large able bodied young fellow-very healthy; and is now able to do general farm work. Mrs Lyons chief complain is that he is indolent
