NotesIn 1884, Thomas Caney, 14, arrived at Rimouski, Quebec, Canada, along with a group of 51 children accompanied by Miss Edwards.

He married Elizabeth FURLONG on August 23, 1892 in St. Anne?s Church.

Charles Thomas and Elizabeth Furlong Caney had 12 children: Mary Ethel CANEY (?May?), born May 28, 1893 (died June 1, 1979); James Jules CANEY (?Jim?), born March 5, 1896 (died June 7, 1973); William Thomas Patrick CANEY, born August 19, 1897; Margaret CANEY, born July 8, 1899; William Joseph CANEY (?Billy?), born December 9, 1900; Thomas Linton CANEY, born September 26, 1902; Monica Geraldina CANEY (?Violet?), born February 10, 1904; John Francis CANEY, born January 11, 1906; Elizabeth Ellen Margaret CANEY (?Marjorie?), born January 2, 1907; Joseph Alexandre LAROUCHE, born October 30, 1930; Bertha Naonie CANEY, born March 16, 1909; Edmund Leo CANEY, born October 18, 1911 (died August 30, 1977). All children were born in Montreal.

Thomas and Elizabeth lived in Montreal until his death on February 4, 1943 in Montreal (she predeceased him in 1922). The family attended St. Anne?s Church, then Holy Family Church (Roman Catholic).
