NotesThe following records have been discerned for Private George William Thompson. Dr. Snow's research shows he was a Barnardo's boy who sailed in 1912 but there is no confirmation through LAC. George W Thompson is listed on the annual report for Dr Barnardo's Homes in 1920 titled 'Faithful Unto Death' as one of the 677 soldiers who gave their lives in the Great War in the Canadian Contingents.

A possible match with George William Thompson and his mother, Alice Maud Thompson at the Leeds Industrial School - A Workhouse for young girls who's parents couldn't control them, who were associating with prostitutes or who were homeless, wandering or begging.
