A birth registration was found for Ada Alger: Year of Registration: 1877; Quarter of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar; District: St Olave Southwark (1837-1901); County: London, Surrey; Volume: 1d; Page: 302. Parents: George Thomas Alger married Sarah Ann Messenger, married Sept Qtr of 1860 in Bermondsey, London, England.

Ada Alger was baptized on February 21, 1877, at Saint Crispin, Bermondsey, Southwark, Middlesex, England.

A death of a George Thomas Alger, aged 41, was registered in Jun Qtr of 1878 in St Olave, London, England.

By 1881, George Alger, aged 20, was in service as a footman in the household of the Earl and Countess of Roedean in Westminster, London. James Alger, aged 18, was a prisoner in HMP Wandsworth Prison. Elizabeth Alger, aged 16, was living with her Uncle Ralph Neal and family.

In 1886, Ada Alger, 10 (along with sister, Ellen Alger, 15), arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a group of 173 Barnardo children en route to Ontario, Canada.

On October 27, 1928, Ada Alger, 52, died at Toronto General Hospital, Toronto, York, Ontario, Canada, of Arterial Hypertension, Chronic Myocarditis, and Chronic Nephritis. Her parents were Thomas Alger and Mary Messenger; informant R J Hayhoe, 216 Indian Road, no relation. Ada Alger is buried in Mount Pleasant Cemetary, Ontario, Canada.
