NotesIn 1892, Frederick Marriner, 14, arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a group of Barnardo children: 160 boys to Toronto and 35 boys to Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

In the February, 1896, Ups and Downs Frederick is noted as living in Fulton Mills, Wellington, Ontario.

In the January, 1900, Ups and Downs is is noted that Frederick was part of the 1899 Christmas Excursion of men wanting to revisit England. Noted in this edition is:

Frederick Marriner came out in the same years as John (Mills), but with a later detachment. Fred's record as been A1, both as a good faithful servant to his employer and as a church member and temperance worker. He goes to visit his former foster-mother in Bedfordshire, and we are sure it will be a source of much gratification to the good lady to witness the results of her training, and also to see how the little boarder that she parted with eight years age still cherishes his affection for her, so much so that he is taking a journey 6,000 miles chiefly for the sake of spending another Christmas with her.
