NotesPossible birth registration in Wolstanton district of Staffordshire UK in 1876 (Q4, 6b 160) as Elizabeth WINKLE, daughter of John WINKLE and Elizabeth SIMPSON.
**Added by Guest 17 Aug 17: "This person is actually Elizabeth WINKER. She was born in 1875 in Staffordshire (Birth Register, Q2 1875, Stoke on Trent, 6b 273). The name WINKLE was probably incorrectly assigned when she entered the Stoke workhouse with brothers Mark and Frederick (all three are listed as residents in the 1881 census)."

Added 18 Aug 17 by mollipops1: **Parish for Elizabeth WINKER's 1875 birth fits with immigration agent report, below. Samuel WINKER married Mary RIDGE at St Mary, Bucknall, Stoke on Trent in 1860 (6b 228), which fits parents names at marriage given below - however, the 1875 birth of Elizabeth WINKER shows mothers maiden name as LINDOP (as do the 1861 & 1864 births of Emma & Mark WINKLE, and 1871 birth of Gertrude WINKER, all in Longton, Stoke on Trent). A Mary WINKER died in 1876 in Longton, Stoke on Trent, aged 33 (Q4, 6b 144). Longton is the birthplace of Mark, Frederick and Elizabeth WINKLE in the 1881 UK Census.**

On December 23, 1902, at Ottawa, Carleton, Ontario, Canada, a marriage was registered between ?Mary Eliz Winkle, 27, born in London, England, to Samuel and Mary Winkle; and John Alex Stewart, 35, laborer, born in Memphis, USA, to Adam Stewart and Mary Ellen Smith.
