Notes Parents: William Almond and Sarah Allen.
William Almond was a drayman for a brewery. In May, 1885, he was killed in an accident, when a barrel of beer fell on his head and crushed it.
Sarah Allen Almond, their mother, died in March, 1891, of bronchitis and cardiac problems.
The girls (Sarah and Elizabeth) lived in a shelter as the brothers (Ralph and William) were unable to care for them.
In 1891, E. Almond, 13 (along with sister S. Almond, 9) arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a group of 22 girls from Boys and Girls Refuge (MacPherson Homes), Manchester, Lancashire, England, accompanied by Miss Smithers and en route to (Marchmont Home) Belleville, Ontario, Canada.
On November 10, 1896, at Lennox and Addington, York, Ontario, Canada, a marriage was registered between Elizabeth Almond, 18, born in England to William and Sarah Almond; and William James Watkins, 25, laborer, born in England to William James and Elizabeth Watkins.
