Notes Ivor was one of eight children born to William Jenkins & Emma Gwilliam. His father William died suddenly in 1898. Ivor's mother was unable to cope with the children on her own and eventually they were taken to the workhouse. Ivor was the only child of the family to be emigrated. My grandmother (Ivor's sister) remembered waving him off at Sharpness in Gloucestershire (he probably sailed from here to Liverpool where his journey to Canada began). My grandmother said his lasts words were "I'll come back and see you one day" but she never saw him again. He used to write letters and he once sent an embroidered cushion to one of his other sisters. He married Minnie Gertrude Stuart and had a daughter, Gertrude. We are unsure whether his daughter married and had children. Ivor's mother remained in the workhouse until her death in 1945.
