NotesIn 1887, John O'Brien, 13, arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a group of 10 boys accompanied by Cardinal Manning en route to Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

"Copy of Reports of Inspection of Pauper Children sent out to Canada made by Immigration Officers of the Dominion Government and received from the Colonial Office on the 12th December 1888.

Report of Mr. John A. Donaldson, Government Immigration Agent at Toronto.

John O'Brien, aged 14. From Woolwich Union. Placed at St. Nicholas Institute, Toronto.?A delicate lad, and inclined to be scrofulous. Is at present learning harness making; staying at the Institute."
