Notes Sent by Stepney Union
with John Rowan, farmer, P.O Douglas, Renfrew, Ontario
June 29 1900
Age does not know, about 14 years he thinks, home plain but comfortable, employed at house work principally, very good health, attends Roman Catholic Church, does not go to school, character generally good, terms-Board and Clothing. Barry is a bright, but not a robust looking lad. He states he is not altogether satisfied here as he finds it a little lonely, and does not get along with Mr Rowan's father, an elderly person. He gets along agreeably with the rest of the family, and his master treats him well. He is well supplied with clothing. The Rowan's are well pleased with the lad.

About 15 years of age, this boy has made good progress during the past year. He is with an industrious farmer. His general health is good, but he says he has weak spells "which usually come on when he is church". He still expresses a strong desire to work at the trade of tailor.
