August 2 1900
Age 14, satisfactory home, employed at farm work, excellent health, attends Roman Catholic Church, four and half months schooling during the winter, character very satisfactory, terms-Board and Clothing. Arthur Sullivan is a bright, nice looking boy. He appears to be quite contented, and had no complaints to make. He states that he gets along agreeably with Mr and Mrs McGivern, and is well treated by them. The McGiverns have no children of their own, and are very desirous of adopting Sullivan. They informed me that they had made an application to the Society with this end in view. The McGiverns are very unostentatious people, and their house did not appear to be overstocked with furniture, yet it was very neat and clean. I have been advised that the McGiverns are very respectable people, and are understood to be fairly comfortably off.

Age 16, terms-$18 per year wages and keep. Sullivan has grown to be a big burly youth. He might easily have better opportunities
but the McGiverns are plain, good hearted people and are really attached to him. They have no family.
