Notes From Woolwich Union
with Michael McGuire, farmer, P.O Buckingham, Lot 8, Con 16, Buckingham Twp, Labelle, Quebec
August 2 1900
Age 14, advantageous home, employed at light work about the farm, very good health, attends Roman Catholic Church every other Sunday, will attend school next winter, character-splendid, terms-at present board and clothing. Mr McGuire is an elderly gentleman, and has a very good farm. His sons are grown up and away doing for themselves. John Burke is a very intelligent boy. I found him very tidy, and well dressed. He is well contented here, and says that he has everything he needs. His employer appears to take a great interest in him, and says that Burke is a favourite with the family
