Notes In 1885, William Schmidt, 15 (along with sisters, Catherine Schmidt, 11; and Elizabeth Schmidt, 9), arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a group of 43 Roman Catholic children accompanied by Cardinal Manning and en route to Rimouski, Quebec, Ottawa and Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Wm. Schmidt, aged 15, from Whitechapel Union, placed with A. P. Lotendre, Rimouski, in 1885. Went to Mr. Wm. Ross, St. Felicite. At present with parish priest, Matane, good boy, well clad, corresponds with his sister at St. Flavie."
