Notes All my life my father told me and my family that he worked his way over to Canada on a cattle boat and got a job working on a farm. I had never heard of the BHC until 2004 when a friend read Young Immigrants to Canada and realized my Welsh born father could be one, I didn't think he was but said I would ask him. I asked my dad and he said, oh yeah Dr. Cossar sent me over when I was 14 to work on a farm. He also said he had a brother come with him that was sent somewhere else and died, but I haven't found him yet (the brother). I only had another year with my dad, he died in 2005 at the age of 90. In that year he never mentioned it again. I don't know why he never told anybody. Dad worked on a farm in New Brunswick for a German born farmer who he seemed to be very fond of, I wish I knew his name to find his ancestors and to thank them, I believe dad was one of the lucky ones who had a good placement.
I found the details of dad's passage here in the Canadian Archives and am still learning about this whole subject.
