NotesIn 1912, Robert McLoughlin, 15, arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a group of six boys (James Smith, 17; John Black, 16; Walter Chester, 16; William Baxter, 16; and William McAllen, 18), were en route to Cossar Farm, Receiving Home and Distributing Centre for Scotch Lads, near Lower Gagetown, New Brunswick, Canada.

On October 5, 1915, at Sussex, New Brunswick, Canada, Robert McLaughlin, 18, enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces. He declared that he resided at Smiths Creek, New Brunswick, Canada; that he was born in Glasgow, Scotland; that his next of kin was his sister-in-law, Mrs. William McLaughlin, who resided at 52 Anderson Street, Glasgow, Scotland; that he was born May 21, 1897; that he was a farmer; and that he was not married. He was described as 5 foot 3 inches in height; fair complexion; blue eyes; brown hair. He was a member of the Roman Catholic faith.

Robert is remembered by a monunument to the Cossar Farm boys who served in the Great War:

"In loving memory of the boys of Cossar Farm killed in action in the Great War and died in Canada"
