NotesParents: John Davis and Eliza Preston, married December 26, 1878, in St. Peters Church, Tibberton, Worcestershire, England.

John Davis died April 13, 1890, in Spellis Green, Claines, England.

William was admitted to the Royal Albert Orphanage in Worcester when he was 7 years old in April 1892. He stayed in the orphanage until his birthday in April 1899 when he was discharged into the care of Rev. Robert Wallace.

In 1899, William Davis, 13, arrived at Quebec, Canada, along with a group of 52 boys from Fegan Homes, London, en route to Toronto, Ontario, Canada. William was accompanied by Rev. Wallace, who took him and other boys to Marchmont Home.

William worked for a while for William Tinney in Cavan, Ontario. Then he worked for an M(?) Campbell in Millbrook Ontario, Canada. In August, 1901, William wrote his mother saying that his boss gets drunk some nights and he wants to leave.

William Preston Davis married another Barnardo home child, Margaret Jane Kerr (born 1884 at Island Magee, Antrim, Northern Ireland) on March 10, 1910 in Alameda, Saskatchewan, Canada.

In 1911, William Davis, 27, blacksmith, is shown residing at Assiniboia, Saskatchewan, Canada, along with his wife, Margaret Davis, 22; and son William Davis, 5 months. His date of birth is shown as April 1884 and his immigration year as 1894.

William and Margaret Jane Davis had six children: Glen Alfred Davis; Richard Harding Davis; James Preston Davis; William John Davis born December 4, 1910 in Alameda, Saskatchewan, Canada; Kathleen May Davis, born May 1, 1912 in Milwalkee, Oregon, USA; Margaret Ferne Davis, born June 27, 1921 in Alameda, Saskatchewan, Canada.

William Preston Davis died on June 20, 1971, in MSA Hospital, Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada. Margaret Jane Kerr Davis died August 28, 1987, in Langley, British Columbia, Canada.
