In 1887, Mary Ann Cunningham, 13, arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a group of 96 children from the Catholic Children Protection Society, Liverpool, England, accompanied by Mrs. Margaret Lacy, and en route to Hotel Dieu, Kingston, Ontario, Canada.

On June 10, 1896, at Sudbury, Ontario, Canada, a marriage was registered between Mary Cunningham, 20, born in Liverpool, Lancashire, England, to Mathew Cunningham and Ella Broadwich; and Wm Alfred Burritt, 26, freight checker, born in Parry Sound, Ontario, Canada, to Alfred Burritt and Elizabeth Carroll.

William Alfred and Mary Ann Cunningham Burritt had at least 8 children: Henry Byron Burritt, born November 17, 1905, in Nipissing, Ontario, Canada, died March 1962, in Ajax, Ontario, Canada; Daniel Ernest Burritt, born July 7, 1907, in Nipissing, Ontario, Canada, died December 5, 1951, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada; Stephen Edmund Burritt, born November 19, 1898 in Nipissing, Ontario, Canada, died December 28, 1950; Alfred Carroll Burritt, born January 7, 1897, in Nipissing, Ontario, Canada, died June 3, 1916, killed in action at Mount Sorrel, near Ypres, Belgium; Oscar Broderick Burritt, born 1902 in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada, died July 27, 1961; Rolf Cunningham Burritt, born March 9, 1904 in Nipissing, Ontario, Canada, died February 21, 1953; Mary Kathleen Burritt, born 1911, died April 26, 1966; and Ruth O'Connor Burritt, born August 15, 1900, died February 14, 1979.

William Alfred Burritt died in September, 1953. Mary Ann Cunningham Burritt died in November 1962. She is interred at Mt Pleasant Cemetary, Toronto, York, Ontario, Canada.
