In 1887, George Hanratty, 12 (along with sister, Elizabeth Hanratty, 9, and brother Walter Hanratty, 11), arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a group of 96 children from the Catholic Children Protection Society, Liverpool, England, accompanied by Mrs. Margaret Lacy, and en route to Hotel Dieu, Kingston, Ontario, Canada.

He declared that he resed at 2127 Third Avenue, New York, New York; that his date of birth was September 25, 1874; that he was born in England; that he was a typewriter mec. for Remington Co., at 374 Broadway, New York; and that his next of kin was Rose Hanratty. He was described as medium height and build; blue eyes; dark hair.

George Patrick Hanratty was naturalized as an American citizen at New York on April 5, 1933.
