Notes[POSSIBLE MATCH] A birth registration was found for Matthew Riley: Year of Registration: 1876; Quarter of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep; District: West Derby; County: Lancashire; Volume: 8b; Page: 547.

In 1887, Mathew Riley, 10, arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a group of 96 children from Catholic Children Protection Society, Liverpool, England, accompanied by Mrs. Margaret Lacy, and en route to Hotel Dieu, Kingston, Ontario, Canada.

"Copy of Reports of Inspection of Pauper Children sent out to Canada made by Immigration Officers of the Dominion Government and received from the Colonial Office on the 12th December 1888.

Report of Mr. W. J. Wills, Government Immigration Agent at Ottawa.

Matthew Riley, aged 10. From West Derby Union. Placed with Mrs. Brennicks, Kilmarnock P.O., Co. Lanark, Ontario.?Comfortably and well placed.

Report of Mr. R. Mcpherson, Government Immigration Agent at Kingston.

Mathew Riley, aged 10. From West Derby Union. Placed with Mrs. J. Brennick, widow, Kilmarnock P.O., Lot 21 in 1st Con., Montague Tp.?Giving full satisfaction, in excellent home, well cared for, and pleased with his situation, attends school, formerly with Chas. Cussack."
