Notes In 1887, Maud Hughes, 7, arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a group of 129 children from Catholic Children Protection Society, Liverpool, England, accompanied by Mrs. Margaret Lacy, and en route to Hotel Dieu, Kingston, Ontario, Canada.

Maud Hughes, aged 7. From parish of Stoke-on-Trent. Placed with Nelly Farney, Ernestown Tp., 2 miles north of Westbrook P.O.?. This child was well liked, but had sore eyes, near to blindness, could not cure them, no other fault, returned to " Hotel Dieu " for treatment."
