Notes In 1887, Walter Hughes, 10, arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a group of 129 children from Catholic Children Protection Society, Liverpool, England, accompanied by Mrs. Margaret Lacy, and en route to Hotel Dieu, Kingston, Ontario, Canada.

Walter Hughes, aged 10. From parish of Stoke-on-Trent. Placed with Daniel D. Gritfin, 7th Con., of Wolfe Island (not Jas. Griffin). ?Bright, healthy boy, well cared for and giving satisfaction, pleased with his home, being taught in the house, will attend school next year."
