Notes In 1885, Joseph O'Brien, 9, arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a group of 136 children from the Catholic Protection Society, Liverpool, England, accompanied by Richard Yates with a probable destination to Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

Joseph O'Brien, aged 10, from West Derby Union, placed with Mrs. Huson, milk dairy, St. Catherine's, Ontario. Mr. Nelson reports this boy as having been very good whilst with him, but he was enticed away by a Mr. Bell, of Stamford, where he remained for a short time only and then ran away, all trace of him being lost. Whilst with Nelson he went to church and Sunday school."
