He married (1) MARGARET LORRETTA OAKLEY February 21, 1905 in Almonte, Ontario, daughter of PATRICK OAKLEY and MARY DWYER. She was born 1887 in Almonte, Ontario, and died March 21, 1931 in Windsor, Ontario. He married (2) LENA BLACKBURN Abt. 1937.

Martin J. Ryan, born England, orphaned to Canada as a baby, raised by the Devlin Brothers and their housekeeper in Carleton, Ontario. Played Hockey, Lacrosse, regatta rowing, for Carleton Place. Learned the Machinists trade in C.P.R. Shops in Carleton Place, Ontario.
Then about 1916 they moved to Windsor where Corbett and his brothers grew up.
Martin was 3 years old, when he was sent to Canada as a Home Child. He departed Liverpool England, on May 28, 1886 via the Carcassian (vessel), and arrived on June 7, 1886 at the port in Quebec. He was put in the Catholic Childrens Protective Society in Kingston, Ontario Mrs. Lacy's Group, RG17 Volume 488, File 53638 General Correspondence.

As posted in the Windsor Star. Mrs. M. Ryan Found Dead In Kitchen. Mrs. Margaret Ryan, 44 years old, wife of Martin J. Ryan, Secretary of the Border Trades and Labor Council, died Saturday afternoon at her home, 469 Wellington Avenue.
She was found, lying on the floor of the kitchen, by her 17-year-old son, Corbett, who immediately communicated with his father. Mrs. Ryan had been suffering some time as the result of recurring heart attacks. Dr. H. Crassweller was summoned as coroner and decided that an inquest would be unnecessary.
Mrs. Ryan had been a resident of Windsor for the past nine years. She was born in Almonte, Ontario, and came here from Ottawa.
Eight children survive. They are Lawrence, Anna, Hubert, Corbett, Margaret, Bernard, Vincent, and Eric.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Church, with interment in St. Alphonsus Cemetery. Prayers will be said by mourners in the chapel of Janisse Brothers this evening. See copy in file.
