Stephen Tarpey (Stephenus Tarpy) was baptized on April 20, 1873, at St. Josephs Catholic Church, Liverpool, Lancashire, England.
In 1884, Stephen Tarpey (illegible on manifest) (along with brother, Francis Tarpey), arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a group of 104 children from the Catholic Children's Protective Society, accompanied by Mrs. Lacy and en route to Kingston, Ontario, Canada.

On April 19, 1915, Stephen Tarpey is listed as the next of kin to his brother, Francis Tarpey, who had enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces. Stephen is shown to be living in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario, Canada.
