A death registration was found for Jane Ackerley: Estimated Birth Year: abt 1860; Year of Registration: 1893; Quarter of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep; Age at Death: 33; District: West Derby; County: Lancashire; Volume: 8b; Page: 440. (Sidenote: brother, Walter Ackerley died, aged 13 years, in 1898.)
In 1900, John Ackerley, 11, arrived with 54 children from Liverpool Sheltering Homes, Liverpool accompanied by Mr. Andrew Drummond and en route to Knowlton, Quebec, Canada.
On February 7, 1924, John Ackerley crossed into the United States through Ogdensburg, New York. His landing card declared that he was born in Liverpool, England; that he was a laborer; that his contact in Canada was his brother, Thomas William Ackerley, who resided at 3 Williams Street, Smiths Falls, Ontario, Canada; that he was going to visit E. Hudson, who resided at 574 Genessee Street, Syracuse, New York; that he intended to visit for 10 days; that he believed he had immigrated through Quebec in 1902 but did not know the name of the steamship; and that he had $60 with him. He was described as 5 foot 6-1/2 inches in height; medium complexion, brown hair and blue eyes.
