Charlotte's father, Robert Swash, deserted the family. Clara was sent in 1900 to the Liverpool Sheltering Home. Three brothers remained with their mother, Emma Swash.
In 1900, Charlotte Swash, 15 (along with sister, Clara Swash, 13), arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a group of 54 children from Liverpool Sheltering Homes, Liverpool, Lancashire, England, accompanied by Mr Andrew Drummond to Louisa Birt's Home at Knowlton, Quebec, Canada.
Charlotte was sent out from the Liverpool Sheltering home in 1900 after her father deserted the family. Three brohers remained with the mother, Emma.
In December, 1905, Charlotte Swash, 21, domestic, returned to the United Kingdom on the ship Lake Manitoba. She returned in 1906.
