In 1901, Jane Markland, 37, and children Fred, 7, Phil, 5, Edith, 3 months, residing in St Pancras, London

In 1911, Alfred Pretty, 50, wife Annie, 48, and daughter Thressa, 19, and servant Phil Markland, 15, in Marysburg, Prince Edward, Ontario

On 1 November 1917, Philip Markland born Nov 30 1896 was drafted into the Canadian Army, he gave his next of kin as his sister Edith, c/o Mrs A Blake, 58 Walton St, Oxford??? (image was hard to read) initially he had put his brother Frederick Joseph as next of kin then crossed it out and put his sister. He stated he lived in Picton, Ontario

(his brother Frederick Joseph Markland was also drafted, he stated his next of kin as Edith but her address was Booth St, Manchester)

On March 1 1919, Phillip Markland returned to Canada on SS Belgic, he was headed back to Picton,

In 1922, Frederick or Phil paid for Edith to join them in Canada, she arrived on SS Melita, Edith stated on her passenger record that her object in coming was to join her brothers, she was headed to Fred Markland, 43 Patrick St, Kingston, Ontario, she gave her nearest relative in England as Aunt-Miss C Markland, 76 Board St West, C on M, Manchester,

In 1927, Phil witnessed his sister marrying a Samuel James Kearns in Kingston, Ontario
