Notes In 1897, Harry Allen, 12, arrived at Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, in a group of 46 Marchmont children en route to Belleville, Ontario, Canada.
Harry was sent to Canada by Burton on Trent Union and placed with Edgar Van Allan, farmer, Morrisburg, Dundas, Ontario. An inspection was undertaken on 10 Feb 1898:
"Age 12, very comfortable farm home, employed at chores about the house and helps to feed the cattle, good health, attends both church and school regularly, terms-board, lodging and clothing. Wages when 16 years of age. Gives satisfaction."
