Notes In 1894, A Lawrence, 12, arrived at Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, in a group of 149 children from the Grenfell Association, accompanied by Mr. Wallace and en route to Belleville, Ontario, Canada.
August 1894, with R C English, Melrose, Ontario:
Albert is a smart bright lad, he says he likes this country very much. He is getting quite handy on the farm learning to milk, manage the horses quite cleverly. Goes to church, sunday school and school next winter.
June 26 1895, with R C English, Melrose, Ontario:
Albert gets on well, he likes this country and farming, grows nicely, seems contented. He was busy helping unload hay. Goes to school in winter but is not very forward or quick to learn. Mr English says he is improving all the time. Attends church and Sunday school.
