NotesIn 1881, William J. Argent, 4 years of age, was shown residing at 8 Barron Street, Pentonville, St. James Clerkenwell, London, England. Other family members included: Charlotte F. Argent, 2; Emily N. Argent, 10 months; Kate E. Argent 29; William Argent, 30, cabman; and Albert W. Argent, 5. (Source: 1881 Census of England, Class: RG11; Piece: 353; Folio: 27; Page: 48; Line: ; GSU roll: 1341076.)

Family tradition states that William John Argent's father was a "Pamphlette" from England (an architect?) and his mother was an "Argent" from France. (His father took the name Argent after the marriage.)

In 1891, William Argent, 13 (along with his brother, Albert Argent, 13), arrived at Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, with a group of 177 children en route to Belleville, Ontario, Canada.

In 1891, William Argent, 12, is shown residing at Marchmont House, Belleville, Ontario, Canada, along with his brother, Albert Argent, 13.

On February 16, 1897, at Brant, Ontario, Canada, a marriage was registered between William John Argent, 21, miller, born in Tilsonburg to William and Lizzie Argent; and Emily Bragg, 18, born in Paris to Walter and Helen Bragg.

William and Emily Ellen Bragg Argent had three children: Kathleen Argent; Hazel Argent; and William Argent, Jr.

In 1901, William Argent, 24, farm labourer, was shown residing at Brantford, Brant, Ontario, Canada, along with his wife, Emily Argent, 23, and daughter, Ellen Argent, 1. William's date of birth is shown as June 11, 1876, and his immigration year from England is not shown.

On September 6, 1915, at Niagra, Ontario, Canada, William John Argent, 37, enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces. He declared that he was born in Birmingham, England; that his next of kin was Emily Argent, who resided at 180 Dalhousie Street, Brantford, Ontario; that he was born June 26, 1878; that he was a moulder; that he was married; and that he had previously served for 4 weeks in the 25th Brant Drags. He was described as 5 foot 10 inches in height; dark complexion; blue eyes; dark hair. He was a member of the Church of England.

On May 23, 1928, at General Hospital, Brantford, Ontario, Canada, Emily Bragg Argent, 47, died of heart failure and endocarditis - both legs. Her parents names were Walter Bragg and Ellen B. Irish. She was born in Paris. The name of the informant was her husband, W. J. Argent, who resided at 23 Walnut Street, Brantford. Emily was buried in Mount Hope Cemetery.
